4 Natural Skin Whitening Recipes with Lemon

Hello Beauties,
Today we are going to discuss about four skin lightening recipes with lemon juice those are very natural on our skin. There are several fairness creams, fairness lotions and fairness serums available in the market today. Many claims to be 'fully' herbal and natural too, but do you think they are natural 100%? Not at all. They would be containing some bases and preservatives to prevent them going bad but these 4 lemon DIY recipes I am going to mention in this post are fresh and moreover, they are natural on skin. Rather than saying these as 'skin whitening recipes' I would like to name these lemon DIYs as skin brightening face packs. Because there is nothing specially beautiful in just having a pale skin. Pale or dusky, tan or dark, if you have a clear, glowing and bright skin, that is beautiful! Find below the top three skin lightening ingredients from your home and make your skin glow naturally!

Skin Lightening Properties of Lemon

Believe it or not, citrus extracts contain great natural skin whitening properties. Lemon juice natural bleaches the skin and fastens the process of dark spot fading, thus giving you a fairer and brighter skin. If you find the lemon juice to be over acidic on your skin, go for sweet lime. Find below these 4 quick fairness recipes with lemon juice for different skin types.

Skin Lightening Lemon Face Pack for Normal Skin
Combine a teaspoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of green gram powder and mix well. Add few drops of rose water to this thick mixture to make a creamy paste. There you're done with your own skin lightening lemon face pack! The green gram powder helps in removing the dead skin cells while the lemon juice work on natural skin lightening. Rose water is added here to calm down the skin.

Skin Lightening Lemon Face Pack for Dry Skin
Using lemon on dry skin is a tricky job. It might dry out your skin more if not used in a proper way with proper base. Combine a teaspoon of olive oil with a teaspoon of honey and put in few drops of fresh lime juice to it. After cleansing your face with a gentle facial clear, apply this thin pack evenly and massage for 2-3 minutes. Then leave on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off. The lemon natural brightens the skin and the olive oil helps in preventing skin's moisture loss. Honey is also an excellent natural ingredient to improve skin complexion.

Skin Lightening Lemon Face Pack for Oily Skin
Take a small bowl and add a teaspoon of fullers earth to it. Now pour 2 teaspoons of rose water diluted lemon juice to the fullers earth (In 2:1 ratio) and blend well to make a smooth paste. This face pack effectively cleanses the skin and removes excessive oil production to give you a fresh, bright and matte skin for a long time!

Skin Whitening Lemon Face Pack for Sensitive Skin
While handling lemon in DIY recipes, we should be more careful to use them on sensitive skin types. Lime juice usage may end up in breakouts if just applied directly on to the skin. Mix 1/2 a teaspoon of glycerin with 1/2 a teaspoon of carrot/apple juice. Now combine this liquid with 3-4 drops of lemon juice and your pure skin lightening lemon face pack for sensitive skin is ready. This face pack is comparatively thin but has a same effects on your skin as the other ones. Just layer it up on your clean face and wash away after 15 minutes.

Tidbit: After using your lemon face pack, moisturization is must in all skin types. Choose one recipe above which suits your skin type. Use these natural DIY skin lightening face packs for at least twice in a week to see visible results faster. These recipes also help in clearing out sun tan and dark patches with regular usage. Do not use them if your skin is allergic to lemon.

How to Make Lip Gloss with An Eyeshadow? [Photo Tutorial]

Hello Beauties,
Today, I am going to present a photo tutorial on How to Make Lip Gloss with your Eye shadow. Strange? No! I got this idea when I was planning to visit my cousin Vicky's home after long days. I wanted to gift her something as we are meeting after a long time. She loves strawberry scented cosmetics and hence I gave her the Lakme Fruit Blast Strawberry Face Wash when we met last time :) And this time, I searched for something 'Strawberry-sh' in my beauty product case and I found out this Aloe Veda Strawberry Lip Balm. Hmm I have reviewed this lip balm long ago here and it shows no tint on the lips even though it looks colourful! I love colourless lip balms but still I prefer the tinted ones when I am lazy to wear my lippy. My cousin is fond of tinted lip balms too hence I jumped into the experiment of making a gloss for her using this Aloe Veda Lippy and my eyeshadow :D
I though of using any of my pink/plum lipsticks for this but suddenly I thought 'Why not to make it up with an eyeshadow or an eye pigment for a change?' That seemed as a good idea for me too and hence I picked this bright pink shimmery eye pigment from Nature's Brilliance by Sue. Now let us check how I made the lip gloss in 4 simple steps. Go ahead and enjoy the pictures and tutorial! :)

lip balm, eyeshadow, spoon

Things you will need:

  • A lip Balm (Tinted or colourless, anything would do good)
  • A pink/plum Eyeshadow (You can also go for any other shade(s) you wish)
  • A clean spoon
  • A ladle

ingredients, swatches

4 Simple Steps to Make Lip Gloss with an Eyeshadow:

Step 1:
Collect your lip balm in a ladle with a clean spoon. If you are using a tube lip balm for this DIY lip gloss recipe, then cut it off with a clean knife and collect it in the ladle. You can also use thick yummy smelling lip butters for this to make your lip gloss rich! Next time I am planning to use the Himalaya Lip Butter which has a very sweet shea butter smell. (Yummm...)

lip gloss

Step 2:
Add required eye pigment/eye shadow to the ladle of lip balm. If needed you can add more later, hence add a little by little until you get the desired pigmentation. Here, the shade I used is a bright pink shade with tiny pink shimmers in it. This would add a nice shine to your lips. However you can also use matte shades for a shimmer-free lip gloss finish. If you have many same kinda shades in your eyeshadow collection, recycle them as lip glosses!

lip gloss, eye pigment, eye shadow

Step 3:
Now mix both the lip balm and eye shadow together with the clean end of a spoon. Mix well without any clumps. Swatch it in your hands to check whether the pigmentation is enough for you. If you want more opaque finish, add some more eyeshadow . This particular shade I prepared looks yummy isn't it? I feel to keep it myself without gifting her lol :P (Shhh...)

lip balm, eyeshadow, lip gloss

Step 4:
That's it we are almost done. Now heat and melt this lip gloss and fill it up in the same lip balm container. Allow it to cool down in room temperature (This will hardly take 2-3 minutes) and you're done with your DIY lip gloss made of eyeshadow. Enjoy!

Homemade DIY lip gloss

My Homemade DIY Lip Gloss Swatch:

It is rich, thick, moisturizing and has a moderate pigmenation with tiny pink shimmers. You can top matte lipsticks with this lip gloss to get that shimmery shine. If you are not a lipstick person, you can just use this plainly on your lips anytime; this lip gloss is suitable for day/night time wears and also for work.

Homemade DIY Pink Lip Gloss Swatch

See how I packed the DIY lip gloss gift :) I hope she (my cousin) would  love it. What do you think girls?

How to Make Exfoliating Body Scrub with Chickpeas? [Photo Tutorial]

Hello sweet ladies!
Now we are going to check an amazing exfoliating body scrub made of chickpeas and few other kitchen available ingredients to give your skincare routine a twist. This natural exfoliating body scrub has numerous benefits such as tan removal, skin softening and deep pore cleansing. I swear by this body scrub and this one definitely wins most of the store bought body scrubs. Come let us check the recipe with a photo tutorial.

Things you will need:
  • Dried Chickpeas, 2 tablespoons
  • Dried Mung beans, 1 tablespoon (Optional)
  • Sandalwood, 1 tablespoon
  • Rice Powder, 1 tablespoon
  • Milk, Required

Preparation Method:

1. Grind the chickpeas and mung beans together coarsely. Mung bean is nothing but the green gram (Pachai Payiru in tamil). Collect the powder in a small bowl. Add sandalwood powder and rice powder to this powered mixture and mixture everything together well with a spoon.

2. Add required milk to the scrub powder that we prepared in the first step.

3. Blend well and ensure that the scrub is in the right consistency. The scrub should be neither too thick nor too runny. That's it. Your own body scrub made of chickpeas is all ready to use now!

Usage Directions:
After having a shower with your shower gel or after a bath, on your wet skin, apply this chickpea exfoliating body scrub. Apply the body scrub over entire body skin and start scriubbing gently with your fingers and palms. Do not use this exfoliating body scrub on your facial skin as this would be a little rough compared to the facial scrubs. However, if you wish grind the ingredients more finely and store it seperately to use as your facial scrub.
While scrubbing your body skin, concentrate more on the rougher parts such as knees and elbows. After 5-10 minutes of scrubbing, wash off the scrub from your body skin completely without leaving any residue. Use every weekend to maintain soft, glowing and tan free skin. This can also be used twice a week on your body.

Ingredient Benefits:
  • Chickpeas : Removes dark patches and pigmentation from the skin.
  • Mung beans: Softens the skin and makes it wrinkle-free. Green gram powder (Mung beans powder) is a great alternative for soaps as well.
  • Sandalwood: Improves complexion, calms down skin and reduces excessive body heat
  • Rice Powder: Helps removing tan by performing the exfoliation part in an effective manner.
  • Milk: Softens skin and prevents it from drying due to exfoliation. If you have extra dry skin, pour in few drops of olive oil to this body scrub recipe.

Do you have any such natural DIY body scrub recipe which you swear by?

Almond & Sandalwood Face Pack for Brides

Guest Post by Shilpa

Hi girls! This is Shilpa Kalluru from Kadapa; working and settled in Hyderabad now. I bumped into this blog when I was searching for some home remedies for my dark patches. I was surprised and happy to see the simple, affordable tips those were shared here. This is a very nice blog and thank you for all the effort.
Any beauty problem has a home remedy in it and thus I wanted to share a beauty tip with MABH friends that will help everyone get a porcelain clean skin. I have heard this over television in Band Baaja Bride by some famous beautician. And this is especially for brides who are looking for a clearer and beautiful skin for their wedding. Check out the quick and simple recipe below.

Things you will need:
  • Almonds - 10 numbers (Small sized ones; these are rich in Vitamin E)
  • Sandal wood powder - 1 or 2 tbsps
  • Saffron - a pinch
  • Olive oil -  4-5 drops

Preparation:
  • Grind everything together in mixture until smooth.
  • You can store this face pack in refrigerator by making it for a week.

How to Apply:
  • Take required quantity of this mixture and add full fat milk to it to make a semi solid consistency. If you have extra oily skin type, you can use rose water instead of milk.
  • Cleanse your face with a mild cleanser or a cleansing milk and wipe off gently.
  • Apply this pack over your facial and neck skin evenly. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes.
  • After this dries out completely dab it with rose water. Scrub it in circular motion to get that exfoliating effect (This encourages the removal of impurities and dead skin cells).
  • Clean with lukewarm water and then splash cold water to close the skin pores.

Try this for a week and you will see beautiful, clear and supple skin on your face. Continue using this face pack regularly for maximum results. For brides, 3-4 times usage per week is recommended.

Hope you liked my first contribution for MABH.

How to Make Fairness Night Cream at Home?

As all we know, the thing 'skin fairness' is a huge craze among most of the Indian women. But our born skin colour is something we cannot change naturally. Chemical bleaching, whitening and other skin lightening treatments can give you a temporary brighter skin or end up in resulting a PALE unhealthy looking skin but only natural ingredients can work on your skin to bring out that original brightness. Don't mistake the word brightness for white skin. Pale, dusky, tan olive or dark, whatever skin type you have, your skin is beautiful if it is bright and glowing! A dark skinned, flawless, supple and glowing skin is seen beautiful when compared to a pale skin with dullness and blemishes. Don't you agree?
Okay fine. Today, let us check an interesting skin lightening night cream recipe that can be prepared easily at home with simple kitchen ingredients. You need to use this night cream for at least 15 days every night to see visible results but the results are completely natural and gives you a natural beauty unlike the other store bought skin whitening products.

Things you will need:
  • 1/4 cup of almonds
  • 1/4 cup of creamy yogurt
  • 2 tsp of sweet lime juice
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sandalwood powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands

How to Prepare?:
  • Soak almonds overnight in fresh water. In the morning, peel of the skin and grind them to smooth paste. Collect this almond paste in a small clean bowl.
  • Soon after preparing the fresh almond paste, put it the yogurt, sweet lime juice, turmeric powder, sandalwood powder and the saffron strands to the bowl. Blend well with a blender until smooth.
  • Fresh lemon juice can be replaced for sweet lime juice. Turmeric powder is optional depending upon your wish as it is not easily available in many countries.
  • Store this smooth cream in a clean small bowl or tube and refrigerate immediately. As this cream is made of natural ingredients and prepared without any preservatives, this fairness cream should be used within one week. If not refrigerated, make sure to use it within an hour after preparation.

How to Use?:
  • Cleanse and pat dry facial skin at night before going to bed. You can use a mild gentle facial cleanser or some cleansing milk for this.
  • After cleansing, take a small quantity of this prepared fairness cream and smooth over your facial skin. Massage gentlly until it gets completely absorbed. Go to sleep!
  • Wash off face with clean water in the morning to see the natural glow. Continue this procedure for 2 weeks to start seeing the lightening results on your skin. This also helps in removing skin rashes, acne spots, blackheads and dark circles from your facial skin.

Prepare and try this fairness night cream recipe at home and let us know your results!

Homemade Rose Water

If you don’t want to use ready-made rose water from the stores, you can try this quick easy recipe. All you need to do is pick a bowl full of fresh rose petals. Then take a wide mouthed enamel or glass pot or bowl with a cover or closing lid. Take another heavy bottomed open vessel. You need kitchen gauze or a strainer too. Now place the wide mouthed enamel pot on the gas stove. Keep the gauze inside it and spread the rose petals to it. You can crush the rose petals if you want. Note that the bowl should be heat resistant. For 1 bowl of rose petals add 2 cups of distilled water. Now keep the second open vessel above the gauze and close the lid in an inverted position.
Light the gas stove and wait for 2 minutes. Once it starts boiling simmer it, keep adding crushed ice and wait for another 15 min. The rose water will condense and fall to the open vessel above. Even a layer of rose essential oil will be formed. If you need oil you have to separate it from water. Once the mixture cools you can store this in old serum bottle and you can refrigerate too. You can carry this to your office too. For people sitting in ac for a long time this might help to overcome the dullness. Spray to your face during regular intervals. You will enjoy this refreshing and moisturizing experience!!

Aspirin Mask for Acne Control

Aspirin masks helps to control acne. Take 4-5 uncoated aspirin tablets (as required) and mix it with little distilled water and make in the form of a paste. Apply this to your face once a week. It should not be used daily because skin may be irritated as it cannot bear sensitivity caused by aspirin.

Pumpkin Face Mask

Pumpkin is excellent for skin. It is rich in vitamins A and Antioxidants and zinc. Take cooked pumpkin (smash it) and mix it with honey and milk. Add egg white to this mixture. Mix well. Egg white helps to bind the mask together. Apply this to your face and see the miracle it does to your skin.

How to Change a Dress into an Ethnic Wear?

Guest Post by Vandana Choudhary
Sounds interesting isn't it???
Friends.. I am sure at some point of life you have also faced the type of confusion I faced two days ago. Two days ago I got a call from my aunt that she is organizing a puja in her home on Thursday and the dress code is anything in pink color. I was happy for get-together but to follow the dress code was quite difficult on such a short notice :D But I managed. I had a pink dress which I converted into  an ethnic wear with my creative skills. So today  I am going to tell you how you can easily make your one-piece dress into a nice pair of Kurtis-churidar.
Follow these Simple Steps and Get Ready for any Family Function

STEP 1:
Take out dress from cupboard which you want to change into a kurti.

STEP 2:
Go to market and buy a small cloth of the same color as your dress or of white color.

STEP 3:
Now if you have purchased the same color cloth then its well and good but because of any reason you are unable to get that particular color, and you have bought white color then you can get that cloth dyed of the same color of your dress,(for eg: I asked the person to dye it with pink color).

STEP 4:
After getting the dye work done,go to any boutique or tailor you know. Ask him/her to cut sleeves from that cloth and attach those sleeves to your dress.

STEP 5:
Now your dress ohhh... sorry your kurti is ready  and you can wear it whenever you have to attend any puja or any family occasion where you have to wear only traditional clothes. To complete the look you can select any color of leggings available in your wardrobe (for e.g.,with this pink kurti I did choose black legging, navy blue will also make a nice combination). I really loved experimenting with my dress. I hope you will also like to try this type of dress designing and use your creativity.

Thank you lovely friends for reading it.
Please do leave your comments on whether you liked my idea or not?
