September Empties | Products I've Used Up

I thought it was about time I threw away a few more of my empty beauty products, but before I can, let's talk about them! I love monthly empties videos as I think it gives you a true reflection of my opinions of products before they hit the bin. So here are 5 more items I've used up followed by my thoughts:

1. REDKEN Color Extend Radiant 10: If we were at the Brits and this product was a band, it would be awarded 'Best Newcomer'. This is a multi-purpose leave in treatment that can be sprayed on to dry or damp hair promising great results from root to tip. I have fallen in love with this product and can't be without it now! I ran out for a few days whilst waiting for my backup to be posted and my hair felt so much more brittle and dry. It's safe to say this is definitely a staple in my everyday routine! Price: £16.99

2. No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water 'Normal/Oily Skin'*: I don't really have a certain opinion on this cleanser; I neither loved it or hated it. It's was great at removing my face makeup but when it came to the eyes, it just didn't seem to stand up to it's competitors! It smelt very pleasant but I can't say I would go out and buy this one again. Price: £9.00

3. Ojon Restorative Pre-Cleansing Treatment: This is a product you apply to dry hair before jumping in the shower to shampoo & condition. It cleanses any product build-up whilst treating dry & damaged hair. I thoroughly enjoyed using this! It was refreshing to use something different and I can easily recommend this to anyone with slightly dry hair. Unfortunately I think Ojon have discontinued this (sad face) but it seems it's readily available online. It smells like a mix of chocolate and hazelnuts which remains on your hair most of the day, yumm! Price: £6.00 (from link provided).

4. Avene Gentle Eye Makeup Remover: This eye makeup remover was pleasant but not memorable. It did the job for day to day use but I didn't find that it was great for more heavy eye makeup or waterproof mascara. Saying that, this would be great for people with sensitive eyes that find that products usually sting, or for contact lens wearers. I can't say I would repurchase this as I like to wear layers upon layers of mascara and it just didn't make the task of removing it too easy. Price: £9.50

5. St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse 'Dark': I've spoken about this product several times before, especially in my tanning routine video. I love this product as it gives me an instant dark olive/brown colour whilst also developing overnight. It also drys almost instantly once applied, meaning you could get dressed after. I find that it lasts perfectly well and doesn't fade too patchy. I use exfoliating gloves in the shower to maintain an even colour. The only downfall of this tanning mousse is that it's drying. It tends to leave me itchy and tight the next day if I forget to moisturise. I already have another bottle of this on the go though so I can't say it's put me off! Price: £2.99

Please feel free to pour yourself a cup of tea and watch the video above, I hope you enjoy! What products have you finished this month? Do you enjoy reading my empties posts? See you tomorrow!

Avon Simply Pretty Color Last Lipstick Almond Beige Review

Hello lovely ladies.. How are you all? Hope you all are fine. I am back with another review today and this review is on an Avon lippy. To be very frank I am not too much into makeup. For me applying a lil compact, eyeliner and kajal is more than enough. Somehow I always think whenever I apply lipstick it makes me look more ugly :P But this lippy just proved me that was wrong: and I am really happy for that. Today I am going to review this on my favorite blog, of course here at  Makeup and Beauty Home :D Okay, now let us see how it works on me. Keep reading!

Product Description:
  • Get velvety color that lasts long, stays fresh and keeps lips soft and moisturized.
  • Gentle long-lasting lipstick with anti-oxidants and SPF 12 UVA/UVB
  • Lasts up to 4 hours
  • Transfer resistant

Price: Rs.299

Shade: Almond Beige

My Experience with this Product:

Packaging: It comes in a dark violet pack. The packaging looks okay and it is sturdy enough to be travel friendly; no complaints.

Colour and Texture: The colour of this Almond Beige lipstick from Avon justifies the name. It actually looks like almond but after applying on the lips it looks so different. Sometimes it looks pinkish brown sometimes orangish brown. Sometimes brown! No I am getting confused :P I am very poor at describing colours so have a look at my swatch and FOTD. The texture is of lipstick is so creamy, buttery and soft. It is so soft that it tends to break or melt if not stored in refrigerator.

How it works: One can easily apply this lipstick over their lips without any hardness as it glides in a smooth manner. This lipstick is nicely pigmented and stays on my lips for 3-4 hours as per the claims. This shade suits almost every Indian skin type and thus can be wore daily for casual outings and even for work. Overall, this lipstick suits everyone beautifully and the lippy beginners out there can pick this without any second thought.

FOTD:

This is how it looks on me and sorry I was damn tired at that time!

Now come, let us discuss about the pros and cons.

Pros of Avon Simply Pretty Color Last Lipstick in Almond Beige Shade

  • Beautiful colour which brightens up the face.
  • Sturdy and travel friendly packaging
  • The shimmers are very subtle, making this lipstick as a perfect daily wear one
  • Will suit almost every skin tone
  • The lipstick does not bleed
  • Suitable for office wear too
  • One of the best shades for lipstick beginners
  • Not drying as it has a buttery texture
  • Contains SPF
  • I think its affordable for the worth. Avon products are available on discounts most of the time.
  • Good staying power, This particular shade will stay for 3-4 hours without the need of reapplications.

Cons of of Avon Simply Pretty Color Last Lipstick in Almond Beige Shade

  • The ingredients list is missing.
  • Availability is a problem for many.
  • Might melt in hard summers; you can store it in refrigerator though

Recommendation: I will recommend this to lipstick to every lipstick loving girl. It looks good on all skin types and perfectly suitable on both day and night.

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 4/5

I know at least half of you reading my blog are secret TBS collectors too... So let us all join hands for this noble hobby of ours and be united in our mutual love and admiration for the awesome products that TBS keeps belting out :)

Yes yes yes, I got the new BB cream too :))

Pati has been working very hard lately and so we decided to go for a cup of midnight coffee last night to CCD (the only one that's open all night in Pune, if you are a pune-ite then you know what I am talking about) and this is what I wore and did makeup-wise :)

I know I know the pics are super crappy but hey Pati wasn't really relenting to clicking pics at midnight so I had to make do with these :P

It feels great when you wake up in the morning and the first email that you read snuggling inside the covers on a frosty morning goes something like this:

Hi Samyukta,
Even though I looooove to read fashion and makeup blogs, I barely ever comment on any...mostly because I'm speed reading most of it while chasing my eighteen-month old. But yours is really impressive, real and I am amazed at how much of your style, tips and tricks can be followed! I'm hooked.
Keep up the super work. Would also love more of the what to wear posts if you are up to it :-D
Best wishes
Nandita

Nandita, thank you so much for such kind words :) They will surely make my day today...
I am so glad you find my blog impressive and my tips and tricks "followable" :)
