My views on the 17 Nail Paints:

Frankly speaking, these are the best nail paints I have used so far. I have not seen a more pigmented, glossier, fast drying and long lasting nail paints till date.

These came as a free gift to me as I purchased few products from 17 brand during Christmas sale. The shades are not anything that I chose but all the 3 nail paints are quite precious to me at present. All these 3 belong to few of the range of nice nail paints that Boots 17 offers.

The Risky Red is a glossy matte blood red color that belongs to 17 High Shine range and is very opaque and finishes with a brilliant shine on the nails. 


Night Sky is a glossy matte black shade that falls in the 17 Fast Finish range and it dries quicker than the rest, really within a minute of applying. It is a little watery s compared to the Risky Red but 2 coats give a completely opaque shade.


The last Xtras Glitter Top Coat is a colorless glitter top coat that easily goes on top with any color. It has multi colored glitters that applies smoothly and evenly on the nails and even comes off with your normal nail paint removers without leaving any chunky glitters behind. It actually makes your ordinary nail paint shades to stand out and increases the staying power too.



The long staying power is synonymous with all the 3 nail paint shades. Apply them and forget about them for a week easily. Both the red and black nail paints start fading just from the tips after 5 days, keeping the point in mind that I keep my hands a lot in water.

The Top coat too stays on and starts fading evenly after a week or so. They make the other nail paints last longer.


The applicators/brushes are thick and of medium length that picks up enough color and spreads them evenly on the nails without any streaks.

Rest I think the pictures attached speak for themselves. These are a real steal at the price and ongoing offers on Boots 17. I am surely going to hoard few more of these as soon as I can. I already have a big stock of nail paints to finish before plunging into more.  :P

MIA Alert!!

Hello ladies... And Gentlemen :) This is an MIA alert to let everyone know that I am leaving for Hyderabad today with family... And when I say family I mean both sets of parents for my little kiddie sister's Passing Out Parade :) Yup! She is getting commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a lady pilot officer! Yippee!! :D So we'll be in Hyderabad for a couple of days and I really do wish I could meet some of you Hyderabad beauties but alas I have a feeling I will be very busy being the perfect "bahu", daughter and well sister ;) #FamilyTime...



But am gonna be in touch with you all through ISLM, FB and Twitter #ThankGodFor3G. Ha ha!

Also, am so sorry that I am not being regular with my posts or even comments... Just that I have been really busy with my in-laws visiting us :) I am actually having super fun getting the "bahu-bahu" feeling for the first time ;) *Touchwood*... My mom-in-law really makes life so much easier for me :)

My Experience with Jabong.com

Since the day I started my make-up ban, I have been getting my dose of retail therapy by shopping for apparels and lately home decor. While going through these home decor sites, I ended up at jabong.com.


Now of course everyone has heard about Jabong, even I had, but with all the mixed reviews (some negative and some downright glowing), I wasn't really keen on trying it out. But while browsing a particular lantern caught my fancy and I thought of giving the site a try :P (Yup I was feeling adventurous)! LOL :D Now since am blogging from office and I forgot to click pics of the lantern in question, you can check it out here. The lantern looked so vintage and so Victorian that a enthusiastic home decorator like me had to have it :P I have placed it next to my glassware cabinet and well it does look really pretty :)

Anyways, coming back to my experience with Jabong, let me tell you all, it was surprisingly good. I mean scouring through so many products wasn't really difficult for an avid shopper like me :P Plus I was floored by the customer service! It was superb! The delivery time they took was 2 days and the most astonishing part of the whole experience was that they have their own courier system and hence the deliver guy actually tells you to open the package in front of him and check the goods and if its damaged then we can return it to him without paying him the COD charges! How cool is that! he he he

Also, the moment I placed my order I got a call from the customer service asking me if I wanted to confirm the order and if I wanted I could cancel it as well. Once my order was deliver I was literally hounded (in a good way) by the customer service to give feedback... I kept evading them purposely for three days but they would doggedly call me everyday till I did not give them my feedback. I was impressed!

One downside that you may find was the absence of makeup products but for me and my makeup ban that turned out to be a boon :P

Celebrity MakeUp: Sameera Reddy

Not very often do we need to fault Sameera Reddy's makeup but unfortunately today isn't one of those days. Looking at the picture below, I cannot help but feel that there is something wrong with her makeup. Yes I said makeup and not the outfit cause the outfit deserves another post altogether :P LOL...



So anyways, coming back to the makeup, I really feel that there is something not working in it. It's difficult to say what it is really but I feel that the foundation has not been blended well and perhaps the shade of the foundation isn't matching her skin tone... Or maybe it is too much SPF in her base makeup?

What To Wear: To A Marriage where You are the MUA and my Experience

Ha ha the scenario I describe in the title of the post is quite rare, but well not entirely impossible now is it? :) Yup! I had been asked to do a bridal makeup for a traditional maharashtrian-kannada wedding on Sunday by my friend's friend... The thing is the bride "Shruti" had returned from Switzerland just two weeks before her wedding and well the scramble for getting clothes stitched, booking parlours and well getting trial makeup done was having a toll on her. She took trials from a couple of parlors and MUAs for her bridal makeup but wasn't very happy with the results... Then when she was lamenting to Shweta (a common friend and ISLM follower), Shweta recommended her to try out a couple of trials with me (ahem!) :P And once I did my first look, she fell in love with it so much that she asked me to do her bridal (wedding and reception) makeup :D Yay! Now as I do take up occasional requests for bridal makeup as well as party makeup and plus she was a friend's friend I immediately said yes :)


Now I had a bit of experience with bridal makeup before as I had done makeup for both my best friends and myself as well plus I had a very good idea about the traditional maharashtrian bridal look so I wasn't as intimidated :) But I must say, doing two bridal looks on one day is really tiring and hats-off to all the bridal MUAs in the world for all the efforts you put in to make a bride look so special on her important day :D Now maharashtrian weddings like south Indian weddings take place in the morning and she had her reception on the same day in the evening, so I was up at 5:00 a.m. and was at her place at 6:00 a.m. Now that was really the most difficult part for me :P he he...

Once I entered the service apartment where she was to get ready, I met with her parents, sisters, cousins and basically all of her female relatives and that is when I really felt nervous! All obviously looking at me as if thinking if this half-ch*nki girl will really be able to carry-out a traditional Maharashtrian look :P Plus they knew I did not do this professionally, rather I myself am a s/w engineer like their daughter and do it as a "side business".. LOL.. The butterflies I had in my stomach at that moment was just "oooh"! ;) I am so glad Shweta and Shilpa (common friends) were with me!

But once I saw her after with pre-bridal treatments and stuff and the inner glow that she was oozing, I knew doing her makeup would be a pleasure :) She looked so gorgeous as is :) And after about an hour of my makeup and hair-do efforts and Shweta's draping skills, Shruti was ready to wed her groom :) Yay!

She loved what I did with her hair... So traditional :)



In the evening I did her reception makeup as well... All in all it was fun though a bit tiring too ;)



But sadly my camera was not able to capture the makeup properly, it even washed out the blusha dn the highlighter :(

And this is what I wore for the morning ceremony...
Since I was very tired I couldn't attend the evening reception :(
